REVIEW
The IT franchise is by far my favorite of all time. Though this movie is not quite as good as the first, it still continues the epic story for a satisfying close. This movie takes everything up a notch except for scariness. There is a lot more violence, language, sexual themes, and there's even a graphic homophobic hate crime. That being said, there is nothing like walking into the first movie not knowing what's going to happen. This shows us more of the same of what we saw in the first movie, except we now know why it is all happening for the most part. Just because I didn't find it as thrilling or as good as the first, doesn't mean this was a bad movie, because it wasn't. This is still a very good and well-done film that deserves a lot of love.
PARENT GUIDE
Violence - 9/10
Kids get killed, some bloody, some not. A man commits suicide at the beginning by slitting his wrists in a bathtub. This scene is portrayed in a montage of scenes from the last film which represent how he killed himself in this film. It is quite emotional. A lot of nightmarish imagery of all sorts. You see people getting stabbed, killed with axe to head, impaled, heart ripped out, brutally beaten up, abusive relationships, all with plenty of blood, and some gore.
Sex - 5/10
Sex talk, abusive relationship, talk of masturbation, naked old lady monster with unrealistic saggy breasts shown. Both gay and straight kissing.
Language - 9/10
A ton of language, though it is used throughout a lengthy runtime of almost 3 hours. 112 f-words, a few uses of faggot, many uses of sh*t, p*ssy, and lesser words.
Drinking/Drugs - 3/10
Social drinking, drug trip, cigarette smoking.
Positive Messages - 5/10
Teamwork and fighting evil.
