REVIEW
This was a phenomenal show! It was probably in my top shows that I have seen in the past year. The one weird thing about it to me is that apparently the main characters are like 16 years old in the show even though they act and look way older (their actors IRL are in their late 20s) but this doesn't change how enjoyable the show is. The characters were great, whether they were the protagonists or antagonists and to my surprise, this show kept me on the edge of my seat! Originally I thought this show was going to be a show solely based off of high schoolers drinking, doing drugs, and sleeping around but no, it is about a group of mid-teens on the hunt for lost treasure. Though there is still a bit of what I just listed. To see if this show is appropriate for you, check the parents guide below.
PARENTS GUIDE
Violence - 8/10
So, there are some pretty violent scenes in this movie including some bloody fistfights, shootings, and extended sequences of pure tension. There is a very abusive father that hurts his son. Two corpses are seen that look like they have been gutted; we see what looks like large gashes revealing some of their insides (brief). Several dead or injured bodies, some bloody, some not. A blind psycho woman shoots and swings things at teens. There are other violent sequences but it's more of the same type of stuff, so I don't want to bore you with the specifics.
Sex - 5/10
There are a couple of crude references such as "circle jerk" and "blowjob." There is one pre-sex scene which cuts away right as the girl blows a candle out; we see nothing except them kissing and then the boy start to tug on her shirt strap. There's one almost-sex scene where the boy takes off the girl's bra, or bikini top, but she ends up putting it back on and walking away (we don't see anything). A boy and a girl talk about if they had ever had sex with anyone else; the boy talks about his first time lasting "25 seconds." They don't go into detail. A guy asks another guy if he has "f--ked her," referring to his ex who is now dating John B. Other kissing sequences.
Language - 8/10
A somewhat often use of the word f--k (and other forms), s--t, b-tch, a-- (and other forms), g-ddamn, Jesus Christ, p-ssy, and other minor words. Though that sounds rough, they don't use it as much as other shows. In certain scenes, they use a lot of profanity, but for the majority of the show, it's scattered throughout each episode.
Drinking/Drugs - 8/10
Frequent drug use by certain characters, including meth, pot, and others. Several scenes of teen drinking.
Positive Messages - 7/10
A lot of friendship and teamwork.
